  • The TEXTSPLIT function will split the text separated by a delimiter and place them in a range of cells in the spreadsheet.
  • In other words, this function can split the text into rows or columns.

Syntax

  • Here, you will see the syntax of the TEXTSPLIT function.
  • To apply this function on your spreadsheet, you must select a cell and enter the formula in the following format.
  • Once you enter the formula, click on the Enter button to get the result.

=TEXTSPLIT (text, col_delimiter, [row_delimiter], [ignore_empty], [match_mode], [pad_with])

Argument Explanation:

  • text – The input text string to split.
  • col_delimiter – The character(s) to delimit columns.
  • row_delimiter – It is an optional one. The character(s) to delimit rows.
  • ignore_empty – Ignore empty values. TRUE = ignore, FALSE = preserve. Default is FALSE. This is an optional one.
  • match_mode – Case-sensitivity. 0 = enabled, 1 = disabled. Default is 0. It is an optional one.
  • pad_with – Value to pad missing values in 2d arrays and it is an optional one.
